ABOUT OUR SUN-PROTECTIVE FABRIC

Are any chemicals or treatments added to your 100% cotton fabrics to make them sun-protective? What makes your fabrics naturally sun-protective?
We do not add any chemicals or other treatments to our fabrics. Our fabrics are naturally sun-protective
thanks to their unique combinations of weave, colors, weight, and other intrinsic qualities.

Is Tulips and Turtles fabric tested for UV protection by an independent lab?
Yes. Our fabrics have been independently tested by International UV Testing Laboratories, a leading UV
testing lab. Our blue fabric received a 35 UPF rating, our pink fabric received a 25 UPF rating, and our
green fabric received a 20 UPF rating. Our fabrics were tested and rated in accordance with AATCC 183 and the Australian Standard AU/NZS 4399: 1996.

What is UPF?
UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and is the rating used for sun-protective clothing. It is
similar to the SPF rating used for sunscreens. SPF measures the amount of time it takes for sun-exposed
skin to redden, while UPF indicates how much of the sun's UV radiation is absorbed by the fabric.
Typically a fabric must receive a UPF rating of at least 15 to be considered sun-protective. A fabric
with a 15 UPF value blocks approximately 93% of UV radiation; a fabric with a 50+ UPF value blocks 98%.

Do your fabrics shrink?
When we performed a shrinkage test our fabrics did not shrink. However, we have noticed some overall
shrinking over a six month period. If in doubt, we recommend that you go with the larger size so that you
will get the most wear out of the clothes.

Are there special washing instructions?
No. Our fabrics are 100% cotton and can be machine washed and machine or line dried.

RETURNS AND EXCHANGES
We want you to love your Tulips and Turtles clothes. We are happy to accept any returns or exchanges made within 30 days of your original purchase date if the clothes are in perfect, unused, unwashed, sellable condition.

We are a small boutique and unfortunately we cannot accept any garments for return or exchange if they are not in the same condition you received them. We offer a full refund for the original purchase price. Please note that shipping costs are non-refundable.

How to make a RETURN or EXCHANGE
1) Please email us at contactus@tulipsandturtles.com and provide the following information:

a. Your first and last name
b. Mailing address
c. Phone number
d. Email address
e. Reason for the return or exchange

2) We will email you a Return Authorization Number. Please include this RA# with your returned items.

3) Mail the items you wish to return to:

Please use a trackable shipping method and insure your items in case any problem arises during transit. We cannot accept responsibility for packages we do not ship ourselves.

4) We will mail or email you notification of a refund or company credit.

SHIPPING
Orders are processed within 5 days of being placed. We usually ship UPS ground, which typically delivers
items between 1 and 5 business days. We will email you a confirmation that your item/s have been shipped and, if applicable, will include a tracking number. Our website is currently set up only to handle shipping to residences and businesses in the continental United States. If you need us to ship outside the
continental US please email us and we can determine shipping costs and delivery time.

If you need your order immediately for a vacation, gift or other reason please call us directly at

GIFT WRAP
All Tulips and Turtles orders are sent in a white gift box. We will soon offer a deluxe, original and
reusable wrapping option. We are excited about this. Stay tuned.

SIZING
We currently offer size 2T - 6 in every style. We will soon offer infant sizes as well. Our sizing is similiar to other boutique brands. We usually recommend a larger size if in doubt. Our styles are specifically made to keep kids cool and comfortable and therefore they tend to offer a relaxed fit. One added benefit of this is that our clothes are very forgiving and usually look great even if they are a little big. Long sleeves and pants can always be rolled up (and still look great.)
